Ideal Commercial Heating come to the aid of Hull care home

January 2010

Ideal Commercial Heating came to the rescue of a Hull care home when its 24 residents found themselves without any central heating in the midst of freezing weather just days before Christmas.

John Crosskey, owner of the Pearson Park Care Home, desperately contacted every installer he could find after the home's ageing boiler broke down, but no-one could help.

They either said they wouldn't be able to get a new boiler and pipework in time or that they were about to close for the Christmas holidays and couldn't start on the job until the New Year. I was so desperate that I walked into Ideal Commercial Heating's head offices in Hull and asked them if they could help, he said.

Ideal's response was excellent. Within just 15 minutes their representative, Andy Forrest, had arrived at the care home to assess what was required. He quickly found a merchant who had the type of boiler that we needed and he arranged for it to be delivered the next day. One of our own employees then put us onto a local plumber, Chris Dunhill, and he came straight out and started work on stripping out the old boiler and fitting the new one.

I can't thank Ideal and Chris Dunhill enough. We had been using portable heaters during the breakdown but thanks to their efforts we had the central heating back on for Christmas Eve so that the residents were able to have a warm, comfortable Christmas.

Chris, of Commercial, Domestic and Industrial Gas, came back in the New Year to complete the work by adding new controls to the care home's central heating system.

The new Ideal Imax 80kW boiler has replaced an Ideal Concord 70KW model, which was over 20 years old.

The Imax boiler, combined with the new controls, is expected to reduce the care home's running costs by up to 50 per cent.

Tom Anderton, Product Manager for Ideal Commercial Heating, said: It's extremely unusual for someone to walk into our main reception and ask for assistance but we pulled out all the stops and are delighted that we were able to support the care home in its time of need.
